Portage County is a northeast county located approximately 30 miles south of Cleveland and on the western borders of Trumbull and Mahoning counties and on the eastern border of Summit county in the state of Ohio, with a population of 162,873 (Claritas, 2024). Its county seat is Ravenna. It is named for the portage between the Cuyahoga and Tuscarawas Rivers. Portage County is part of the Akron, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Cleveland-Akron-Canton, OH Combined Statistical Area.
