Young Children Affected by Elevated Blood Pressure or Hypertension

Select a Zip Code
Measurement Period: 2019
This indicator shows the percentage of young children, ages 3-5, seen at participating Better Health Partnership health care facilities who are affected by elevated blood pressure or hypertension (blood pressure at or above 90th percentile).

Why is this important?

High blood pressure puts children at risk for health problems later in life, including heart disease and stroke. Ensuring that children have a healthy diet and regular exercise are important to reducing these risk factors. It is recommended for children to have their blood pressure measured starting at the age of 3.
